First Seeds of 2009
The first seeds of the 2009 season were planted today! We planted Purplette and Pearl Drop onions, both of which will be sold as bunching, or green, onions. Once again we’re experimenting with placing multiple (as in 12-14) seeds in each cell, in hopes that we can space them closer to 6″ apart in the rows when we transplant them. This is a variation of Elliot Coleman’s “multi-block” concept. Hopefully it will result in better weed control, and less time spent transplanting.
Here’s to a great 2009 veggie season!
