About The Farm

The Family Table Farm is owned and operated by Mike and Lisel Record.  While Mike’s father and grandparents farmed in Indiana, we are both “first-generation” vegetable farmers.  The pull towards work that for us is “right-livelihood”, that productively connects us more closely to our community and the earth, has grown stronger each year.

We’ve been gardening for many years, and Mike received the Colorado Gardener Certificate in 2007 by completing the CSU Master Gardener training.  The following year, he completed the Market Farm track of CSU’s Boulder County Building Farmers program.  In 2009 we received invaluable information and advice mentoring with Stonebridge Farm in Lyons, CO.  Last year, 2010, was our third year farming.

The farm is located on land we lease from Lone Hawk Farm, a few miles west of Longmont, CO, and a couple of miles from our home.  Because we’re both busy raising three kids and working an off-farm job, we have kept the scale manageable at just under one half acre.

We grow a wide variety of vegetables for sale to our CSA members and through our online farm stand. Due to costs that we feel are prohibitive at our scale, we are not USDA certified organic.  We are Certified Naturally Grown, which means we use sustainable organic techniques to produce healthy, fresh food that tastes really yummy.
